Ask hard questions and get to the heart of content relationships.

As Stanford eCorner has grown into its new visual system, my team was given the unique opportunity to step back and evaluate our strategy from 2017 and ask... Are we helping our users find the most aspirational content? Did our research curate the best path? Are we meeting the needs of faculty and students? Why? Why? Why?

Our approach was to reimagine content relationships without too much disruption to established, trusted patterns in the experience. Starting with our heaviest and most complex use-case across the site, videos and video clips. After a few design sprints and testing (preference and 5 second testing), we were able to quickly nail down a healthy design direction. This allowed us to cross evaluate our proposal against our other content types: Articles and Podcasts with ease and confidence.
